Chilko Glacier Assessment

The purpose of the project was to assess the recession of key glacier fields in the Chilko Watershed. In particular, a key field that feeds the Xeni Gwet’in water supply (Klokon Glacier) was assessed using remote photography records and ground truthing.  Rough estimates were developed to determine risk to the local water supply.  A monitoring regime was also established for the Klokon glacier field to measure annual changes to the ice mass.  Developed by Matt Beedle for the Xeni Gwet’in First Nation, 2011.
